Romeo was a puppy-mill rescue, adopted at 8 weeks old. After the vet gave the OK on his health and vaccinations, I immediately started to socialize him and teach him the basics of good manners. We had fun! Romeo was excited to see what his next reward was and I was excited to see him achieve his next accomplishment. Romeo and I volunteer at West Michigan Therapy Dogs (AAA/AAT) where we achieved certification in 2006. I'm also certified through The American Kennel Club (AKC), Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and the Delta Society Pet Partners. Romeo thrives on giving love and putting smiles on every ones face no matter what their age! His dedication is relentless.

Our dog Izzy came to us through Safe Haven Humane Society adoption services, with her vibrant, tail always wagging, personality we couldn’t resist but to adopt her. Izzy was 2 years old and had zero manners when we adopted her in Feb. 2008, and has since learned the basics of good behavior. She also has received her certificate in therapy work through West Michigan Therapy Dogs (Oct. 2008), the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate, as well as the Delta Society Pet Partners too. With her sassy fun personality, I know she will make lots of people very happy!

Casey is an 11 year-old, domestic shorthair orange/white tabby, a rescue that came to us from a family that couldn't keep him when he was about 6 mos. old. Casey is a quiet, calm and easy going soul, who LOVES to be petted and loved on! He loves to be an indoor and outdoor kitty. He brings home "gifts" to us every now and then, even though we have a bell on his collar to warn all the little critters out there. Casey is an adventurous boy, who enjoys being known as the "neighborhood cat." As people walk by, he will gladly lie down on the sidewalk and roll over exposing his belly for that quick "belly rubs" by a passerby! Casey is "bell trained" meaning he rings a bell when he wants to go outside, he also fetches too! We think secretly he's a dog disguised as a cat! He can't fool us! Casey has even greeted new neighbors moving in, by going into their house to say "Hello, welcome to the neighborhood, I will gladly defend your house and yard against rodents!" It was quite the introduction of meeting your neighbors for the first time and explaining to them about your cat! Good thing we have WONDERFUL and UNDERSTANDING neighbors, who LOVE our Casey-boy!
When we had Casey just a few months and he left his previous "kitty buddy" behind, he just seemed sad and was looking for a little friend, so we decided to get Oliver for Casey (I really mean that, Oliver was for Casey, not us at first)... Oliver came to us from a farm at 8 weeks old! He was just a bundle of fur at the time and boy, he was mischievous! Oliver is a 10 year old, longhair, domestic cat that we believe has "Maine Coon" in him! Look at his paws, how big, and the tufts in between his toes, a trait of the Maine Coon. Oliver was a little skittish at first and nothing like Casey’s easy going personality, however Casey took to Oliver right away and that is really what mattered to us at first. Casey cleaned Oliver, slept next to Oliver and truly looked out for his new little brother! Oliver is a sweet, lazy, Garfield-type cat! He prefers the TV remote and a pan of lasagna (if he had his way) over chasing mice! He will even go to the back door and do a sniff-check of the weather, if he sniffs the air and doesn’t like what he smells, he will not go outside. Like his brother Casey, Oliver is an indoor/outdoor cat. Oliver has a hard time communicating to us when he wants something, sometimes the little guy will open his mouth to meow and a hiss comes out, well that can be very scary if you don’t know Oliver. He only meows or hisses, a lot, when it is breakfast or dinner time and he is never late! We LOVE our Ollie and he truly lives up to being a big fat and lazy cat. He enjoys sitting on the dogs if they don’t get out of the way to get to our laps and he LOVES his big belly to be rubbed! We wouldn’t want it any other way!
